The Sunday Times reports that more than 600 police stations across England and Wales have closed since 2010. This is, reportedly, the largest closure programme in policing history. John Arle, national chair of the Police Federation said that town centre police stations ‘provide a visible reassurance’.
Closing stations is the inevitable result of massive cuts to police funding. The main responsibility of any government is to protect its citizens from both internal or external threat. Given the swingeing cuts to our armed forces, the Tories are clearly failing on both counts.
UKIP are clearly the party of law and order.
