At a packed Adoption Meeting on Thursday 9 th August UKIP Gloucestershire adopted its candidates to fight three County constituencies.
Commented County Chairman Richard Ford :- “UKIP will be contesting all six Parliamentary seats in Gloucestershire at the next General Election, and I am particularly pleased that the party has adopted experienced candidates such as Christina Simmonds in Cheltenham and Stuart Adair in Tewkesbury. It is so very important that Leave voters throughout the County are given the opportunity of making their voices heard and of registering a vote which both backs Britain and backs Brexit.
Of course the opposing Conservative, Labour, Lib Dem and Green candidates will all be for Remain in both Cheltenham and Gloucester, and even in Tewkesbury the supposedly Brexit backing local Conservative MP is still a supporter of Remainer Theresa May’s Government. Thus UKIP will be the only vote for change and in favour of implementing in full the result of the 2016 EU Referendum in all three constituencies.
I am particularly pleased that UKIP will be contesting Cheltenham after an absence last year. Cheltenham voters deserve a proper choice away from Lib-Dem Max Wilkinson and Conservative Alex Chalk, who agree on so many issues that it is difficult to distinguish between them, and who are like two peas in the same pod. UKIP will provide that real choice for voters in Cheltenham.”
In addition to Christina Simmonds in Cheltenham and Stuart Adair in Tewkesbury, Richard Ford himself has been adopted to fight the Gloucester seat.
