UKIP’s Parliamentary Candidate for Stroud Glen Gogerly has condemned in the strongest possible terms the motion carried by Stroud District Council in support of a second EU Referendum, euphemistically termed a “People’s Vote” by its promoters.
Commented Mr Gogerly :- ” It absolutely beggars belief that a District Council – which has a great challenge on its hands in providing and maintaining services to Stroud residents in the face of Tory cutbacks – should be wasting public time and money in passing motions of this kind. The actual People’s Vote on 23rd June 2016 was comprehensively in favour of leaving the EU, and we are still waiting on Remainer Theresa May and the Tories to deliver on this clear and unequivocal instruction from the British electorate.”
The Labour/Lib-Dem/Green administration in Ebley Mill do Stroud no favours – their Councillors should rather concentrate on the job they were elected to do.
The Tories are little better. After the disappearance of arch Remainer and former Tory MP Neil Carmichael from Stroud back to his native Northumberland they have now parachuted in yet another Remain supporter with no connection to the Five Valleys as their Parliamentary Candidate, this time from London where she was previously a Camden Councillor.
it is absolutely clear that at the next General Election there will be only one option for the 33,618 (45%) of Stroud residents who voted Leave in the 2016 EU Referendum, namely myself as the Parliamentary Candidate of UKIP – the Brexit Party. Conversely Remainers in Stroud will have a choice of four candidates – Conservative, Labour, Lib-Dem and Green.”
